How It Started

In 1979, the late great Coach Ernie Peterson founded Peterson School of Tennis, becoming well known for developing players like Sloane Stephens and Jermaine Jenkins, hitting pro to Venus Williams, his daughter, former top 200 pro and college player Jewel Peterson, who was a 4 time All-American at the University of Southern California. Coach Jewel took over the academy after his passing and changed the name to Peterson Tennis Academy, developing players into world-class athletes. Among those players is Cori Guaff, winner of the French Open and the youngest-ever finalist in girls' singles at the U.S. Open grand slam. Later, Jewel created Peterson Tennis Management, successfully managing facilities, and developing programming at Regency Park, Burdett Tennis Center, and Tributary Tennis Center.
